Paving company knocks down Middletown power lines

Three utility poles were broken in rear yards and about 60 customers were without power Saturday morning, after a paving company knocked down a Duke Energy power line shortly before 9 a.m, according to the company.

Duke Energy is on the scene, in the 700 block of Boylston Street in Middletown.

However, there are no injuries as a result of the accident, a dispatcher for Middletown Division of Police said.

As of about 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon, 42 remaining customers had a power outage, said Duke Energy spokeswoman Sally Thelen.

“We have multiple crews and pieces (of) equipment up there working on replacing poles and rehanging lines,” Thelen said.
