U.S. News national rankings: How did local hospitals perform?

Several area hospitals ranked as high performing in at least one area, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2019-2020 Best Hospitals rankings released Tuesday.

Spanning 25 adult specialties, procedures and conditions, the 2019-20 rankings evaluated nearly every community hospital in America. This year, only 165 hospitals out of more than 4,500 were nationally ranked in one specialty, while 569 were ranked among the Best Regional Hospitals in a state or metro area based on their performance in delivering complex and common care.

Locally, UC Health’s West Chester Hospital was recognized as high performing in one adult specialty, nephrology. It also ranked as high performing in heart failure care, as did Premier Health’s Atrium Medical Center, Kettering Health’s Fort Hamilton Hospital and Mercy Health-Fairfield Hospital.
