Woman shows kindness to homeless Vietnam veteran, makes his day

A woman’s act of kindness towards a homeless man is getting a lot of attention for all the right reasons.

Kimberly Schintzius met Daniel Wise, who says he’s a homeless Vietnam veteran, while she was playing Pokemon Go on the streets of downtown Atlanta near Centennial Olympic Park.

Wise approached her, asking if she was lost. She explained she was actually playing a game on her phone and showed him how to play.

“He then thanked me for being so kind and walking and talking with him instead of pretending he doesn’t exist like he had shared with me is what most people do whenever he tries to have conversations with people or tried to offer directions like he did me,” Schintzius wrote in a viral Facebook post.

While out catching Pokemon in Atlanta I was approached by a frail looking older man on a worn out bicycle, I know I must...

Schintzius said she was on her way to get food at a nearby deli when Wise suddenly looked sad.

When she asked what was wrong, he replied, “I don’t want you to think I’m trying to beg for money or anything like that like I know a lot of people ask for that and go buy alcohol or cigarettes but I don’t smoke, I’d really just like something to eat ma’am.”

Without asking any questions, Schintzius proceeded to buy the man a full meal from the deli. Wise was so grateful, he gave Schintzius a hug.

“I would like to thank you from the bottom of me heart,” Wise told Schintzius. “I would like to thank you for the kindness you showed me today and letting me see that there are still young people like you out there who do selfless things like this in a world that often turns its back on old men like me and pretends we don’t exist.”

“… It warmed my heart to help him get a meal in his belly tonight and lift his spirits with a simple conversation while walking down the street,” wrote Kimberly.
