Davis, a Navy veteran who served from 1970 to 1976, suffers from stage four cancer and is hoping to raise enough money to pay to be buried near his parents in Culpeper, Virginia, WJAC reported.

Thanks to the help from a couple of people who visited to his yard sale and created a GoFundMe account for him, Davis will be able to.

"It broke your heart, hearing the story, and we just decided we had to do something to try and help him, try to make his life a little bit easier," Ed Sheets told WJAC.

The fundraiser has raised more than $27,000, much more than the $15,000 Davis needs for his plot.

Sheets and David Dunkleberger have raised the limit as donations continue to pour in, with a goal to help with other veterans’ funeral costs.
