Tennessee man threw 1-year-old child 15 feet across a concrete parking lot, court records say

A Tennessee man is accused of throwing his 1-year-old son 15 feet across a concrete parking lot while arguing with his ex-girlfriend, according to court records.

According to arrest records, Jacques Tyaion Davis, 24, of Knoxville, was charged with domestic assault, interference with 911 calls and child abuse in connection with the Monday night incident WBIR reported.

According to court records, Davis allegedly punched his ex-girlfriend in the face, broke her phone, and then threw their 1-year old child with one hand, WVLT reported.

According to arrest records, the woman told police Davis took the child, and when she asked for child back, Davis "took the child with one hand and threw the child at (her) over a distance of 15 feet over the concrete parking lot.”

The woman was able to catch the child, but the child's head was snapped backward "in a whiplash manner," WBIR reported.

Davis regained control of the child and then drove away, WVLT reported.

Police located Davis several minutes later. Davis admitted he did break the woman's phone but denied hitting her, WBIR reported.

The woman told investigators she would follow up with medical professionals to check the child for injuries, according to the arrest report.
