Police: Florida Grubhub driver irked over order swings large ashtray at Burger King employee

There is road rage, and now, there is Grubhub rage.

A Grubhub driver in Florida is accused of picking up a 3-foot plastic ashtray and swinging it at Burger King employee because he believed his delivery order was being processed too slowly, authorities said.

Daniel Delellis, 43, of Clearwater, was charged with two counts of simple battery and one count of criminal mischief, according to arrest records from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Bail was set at $1,000, according to jail records.

According to an arrest report, Delellis walked into a Burger King in Clearwater on Saturday to pick up a delivery order and became angry when he was told the food was not ready, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

According to the report, Delellis “walked outside and picked up an approximately 3 foot in height hard plastic cigarette ashtray and swung it at the front doors."

When a Burger King employee asked him to leave, Delellis hit the employee in the face with his hand and swung the plastic ashtray at another employee, hitting him in the chest, the Times reported.

Police were called and Delellis was arrested, the newspaper reported.
