Phoenix man found stabbed 80 times, police say

An Arizona man is accused of stabbing another man more than 80 times, killing him.

Vamba Mamadee Donzo, 26, was arrested Wednesday and charged with second-degree homicide, among other charges, in the death of 47-year-old Christopher Charles Mihaylo.

On Aug. 22, a man called police and reported finding his brother, Mihaylo, dead in his apartment, KNXV-TV reported. The brother told police he had gone to Mihaylo's apartment when he failed to pick his children up from school.

The brother said he found Mihaylo's body on the floor of the master bedroom.

Phoenix police said Mihaylo had "multiple stab wounds and other signs of trauma on his person," AZFamily.com reported. There were bloody footprints throughout the apartment, police said.

"The evidence would indicate that the suspect may have had sexual intercourse with the victim," the police report said.

Mihaylo's brother told police that Mihaylo's Chevrolet Suburban appeared to be missing. Police used the SUV's "OnStar" feature to track it to Peoria. Inside the vehicle, officers found items linking it to Donzo, including a handgun belonging to him and his Social Security card, according to KNXV-TV.

Police tracked Donzo to Tuscon. As officers were trying to arrest him, police said Donzo fought the officers and bit a few of them, KVOA-TV reported.

Donzo is being held at the Pima County Jail on $1,000,000 bail.
