New York bus aide sentenced after striking boy, who has autism, with shoe, authorities say

A former New York bus aide has been sentenced to two months behind bars after he admitted to striking a 9-year-old student with a shoe, authorities said.

According to WGRZ-TV, a judge sentenced Buffalo resident Anthony Lanier, 34, on Monday to 60 days in jail and three years' probation in connection with the December 2018 incident. Investigators said the then-Western New York Bus Co. employee used the boy's shoe to hit the face of the student, who has autism. The company later fired Lanier.

Earlier this year, Lanier, who was charged with attempting to endanger the welfare of an incompetent person, pleaded guilty in the case, WIVB-TV reported.
