No injuries were reported, according to an incident report The Atlanta Journal-Constitution obtained from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident started when the seller posted an ad for a 2002 Aprilia RSV motorcycle for $3,700. When another man using the fake name Robert Haynes responded, the victim set up a meeting Tuesday at his house in the 1200 block of Flowers Drive, authorities said.
Two men, one of them giving the name Ty, showed up in a dark gray, four-door sedan. Haynes asked to test drive the motorcycle, to which the victim responded that he could only allow that if Haynes left cash to hold until his return, according to the report.
Haynes went back to the sedan to get a black bag and helmet, and soon after, Ty pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim, authorities said. The victim told the pair to take the bike, and he ran toward the woods.
Haynes drove off on the motorcycle, but Ty chased the victim before returning to the sedan, according to the report. He fired eight rounds at the seller, authorities said.
Ty then drove away, authorities said. At that point, the victim called 911.
When deputies arrived, they spotted the motorcycle in the area and chased it, but eventually lost track of it, according to the report.
Sheriff’s officials are advising anyone in Forsyth County looking to sell items online to meet at the North or South precinct with the prospective buyer.
“We have two precincts in Forsyth County that are perfect for transactions such as Craigslist,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
