Middletown property owners to get notices to sidewalk repairs

As part of Middletown’s street paving program, property owners on some streets will be required to repair defective concrete sidewalks, curb and gutters, and driveway aprons.

Notices are expected to be sent this week to the 149 property owners impacted.

If the repairs are not completed by a specified date, the city will make the repairs and bill the property owner. If the bill is not paid, the city will assess the property owner on their real estate taxes.

The assessments range from $171.18 to $13,701 per lot with an average cost of $2,751 per lot.

Officials said the total cost of the concrete program that is eligible to be assessed to the property owners is approximately $437,456.
