Miami University President Gregory Crawford was the university's highest-paid employee in 2017. He was paid more than $100,000 over what his predecessor earned in prior years, according to the I-Team Payroll Project searchable database of public employees.

Crawford was hired in February 2016 to replace former president David Hodge, whose annual pay was $432,022.

An I-Team investigation last year found the ability to cash out unused sick and vacation leave is a rare perk in the private sector, though local governments are on the hook for tens of millions of dollars worth of these payments.
