The Columbus-based fast-food chain is collaborating with Easton, Pennsylvania-based Weyerbacher Brewing Company on a White Castle-branded beer, according to beer-industry web site Brewbound.com and to Fox Business News.

“We did a pilot brew for them, a kölsch that they loved, so that’s gonna be the first beer,” White Castle Chief Operating Officer Josh Lampe told Brewbound. “It goes well with burgers.”

The beer would be offered on draft in some of the chain’s nearly 400 restaurants across its 13-state footprint, and would be sold in retail packages at grocery stores in which frozen White Castle products are sold, Lampe told the web site.

A spokeswoman for White Castle was a bit more tight-lipped about the new brew, but released a statement to this new outlet that said in part, “It’s too early for us to comment on any specifics about how widely available a White Castle-inspired beer might be in our restaurants, but we’re enjoying the creative process we’re working on right now in real time.”
