Leana Davidson of New Carlisle is a mother of five so she knows about budgeting for back to school.

She said she’s saved at least $100 dollars shopping Goodwill stores in Huber Heights and in Beavercreek.

“As kids get older the clothes get more expensive and you find a lot of good deals and items that are really in good condition,” Davidson said.

At the Goodwill on Dorothy Lane in Kettering, there are backpacks for $4.99, notebooks and folders and a large selection of children’s tops, pants and jeans for $2.49 each.

“We have school uniforms. We have clothes that look like they have never been worn before and they are name brand,” said Cindy Carusone, Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley public relations manager.

Don’t forget school sports’ needs.

Carusone pointed out girls name-brand pink cleats that typically cost about $20, but at Goodwill, “they are 2.99 and they look like they’ve never been used before.”

The Goodwill in Beavercreek was stocked with socks, boots, hair accessories and plenty of name-brand clothing.

Shoppers will save money and help a great cause.

“For every dollar, 86 cents goes back to our programs helping persons with disabilities and other disadvantages,” said Carusone.

Approximately 2,000 items are donated daily, so that means the selection changes daily in the stores, too. Carusone recommends calling stores near you if you are looking for specific items.
