The six are in the county jail and police are continuing searching for the others on 59 counts of felony drug offenses mainly for trafficking and possession of fentanyl, heroin, meth, cocaine and the opioid pain killer Suboxone.
The arrest warrants granted after a Shelby County grand jury returned indictments Thursday, stem from several month of undercover investigations coordinated by the police department's narcotics unit and "vigilant drug enforcement by the Sidney's patrol division," the chief said in a prepared statement.
Police and narcotics unit members began making arrests about 3:45 p.m. today, he said. Those arrested on trafficking charges were:
Cindy Maxwell, 38, 137 Oldham Ave.
Rendall Vaughn, 31, 701 Monroe St.
Ryan Leach, 38, 218 Forest St.
Troy D McRae Sr., 56, 311 N. Ohio Ave.
Howard Slagel, 61, 1133 Hamilton Court
Another Sidney resident, James Hughes, 48, 809 W. North St., was arrested during the operation on one count disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and on one count of attempted pandering obscenity involving a minor. Both offenses are fifth-degree felonies.
On Wednesday, about 8:30 a.m., police and the Sidney-Piqua Tactical Response Team executed a narcotics search warrant at 701 W. North St. The tactical team was called in because the residence was deemed a high risk to officer safety.
Arrested during this operation was Tim Anderson, 49, address at large, Sidney. He was charged with one count of possession of meth (fifth degree).
