This Butler Tech version of “The Fantastic Four” often turn heads by both their close bonding and their shared passions for the careers they are studying.
Butler Tech officials said while the career school has had plenty of twin students, they believe the Peddicords are the first set of quadruplets in the school’s history.
The advantages, say the four, of attending the same school — and sometimes the same classes — far outweigh any drawbacks.
“You constantly have a friend by your side,” said Emilie Peddicord, who is studying in the Butler Tech firefighting program.
Rachel Peddicord, who is studying information technology, agrees, adding “you are never lonely, you always have somebody right next to you.”
Jenna Peddicord, who is criminal justice student at the career school, said “you always have someone to talk to.”
And future firefighter Jake Peddicord likes that “you always have someone to help you with homework.”
The downsides of being part of quads, they said, include having to sometimes explain it.
“People don’t really realize what a quadruplet is so we have to explain all the time,” said Emilie.
For Jake it comes down to being the lone male.
“The toughest part is not having someone else to talk to like a guy,” he said.
Jenna chimes in “teachers always get our names mixed up if we are in the same class.”
Butler Tech Assistant Principal Chris Trentman said the four share something much more important than entering the world as quads.
“Academically they are outstanding students and they are great leaders in the building. They are great additions in this building,” said Trentman.
“They all each have their own set of personal qualities and individuality but what I found really interesting is that even though they are all different, they all sit together at lunch with their friends. They all sit at the exact same table every day,” he said.
And they share a typical sibling humor shown when Jake stumbled a bit during this story’s interview.
“She stole what I was going to say,” he protested.
“Jake you are kicked out of this family!” responded one of his sisters.
To which he retorted in typical brotherly fashion “well I don’t really have anything to talk about because I don’t hang out with you guys.”
Only goes to show maybe quads are not so different after all?
