President Trump, former VP Biden mix up location of Dayton shooting

President Trump said Toledo, Biden said Michigan.

President Donald Trump and his top Democratic challenger former Vice President Joe Biden each had the location of the Dayton shootings wrong during remarks recently.

“May God bless the memory of those who died in Toledo,” President Trump said at the end of a 10-minute address to the nation in the aftermath of mass shootings in Dayton and El Paso.

Dayton is about 150 miles south of Toledo, though both are on the western half of the state.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination said the shooting took place in Michigan.

According to pool reports, it was unclear whether the president’s mistake was due to the teleprompter.

Biden also had the location of the shooting in El Paso wrong.

He referred to both shootings as “the tragic events in Houston today and also in Michigan the day before,” but later corrected himself, according to the Washington Examiner.

Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley said President Trump told her he’s coming to Dayton sometime this week.

“I’ve heard he’s coming Wednesday,” Whaley said. “And you know, he might be going to Toledo. I don’t know.”
