Pipestone Golf Course to renovate clubhouse

Pipestone Golf Course will be undergoing $100,000 in clubhouse renovations next year.

The work is at the city-owned course is aimed at expanding the floor space to hold a larger number of people, Miamisburg officials said.

“Basically, we are going through and updating the aesthetic look on the inside, making the floor space a little bit larger to accommodate larger parties, and creating two new management office areas,” city parks and recreation superintendent Kevin McKinney said.

The proposal unanimously approved by Miamisburg City Council last week is part of the 2019 capital improvements program, he said.

The project is expected to be bid on this month with work set to begin in February and be completed near the end of March or early April, McKinney said.

Pipestone’s clubhouse will not be expanded, but it will create a more open atmosphere, Miamisburg City Manager Keith Johnson said. The work will involve removing a pro shop wall, according to McKinney.

“Currently, where the snack bar is located, that’s going to be expanded,” he said. “And there’s going to be a kiosk-style club pro shop that you get still have your roll out racks with your apparel on it. But you can still get your balls, your gloves, your tees.

“The idea is to pay for your golf, go down the line, get something to drink, go down the line, get something to eat and then out the door you go to the Number 1 tee,” McKinney added.

The pro shop will remain open during the work, he said.

Johnson said this is the first clubhouse renovation since early in the decade at Pipestone, which opened in 1992 on Benner Road. In 2014, $1 million was approved by council for a new irrigation system for the golf course.

The city is scheduled to retire its debt on Pipestone’s construction in 2021, records show.
