OSP releases names of crew killed in Southeast Ohio medical helicopter crash

UPDATE @ 6:56 p.m.: A medical helicopter pilot and two flight nurses killed Tuesday morning when the copter crashed near McArthur, in Vinton County, have been identified, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Dead are pilot Jennifer L. Topper, 34, of Sunbury; and flight nurses Bradley J. Haynes, 48, of London and Rachel L. Cunningham, 33, of Galloway.

The state patrol was notified about 7:20 a.m. that communication with a Survival Flight medical helicopter had been lost.

The crash scene was located about 10:15 a.m. near Lake Hope State Park in McArthur, according to our news partner WBNS-TV in Columbus.

State troopers told WBNS the crew was on the way to pick up a patient when the crash occurred.

The helicopter departed Mount Carmel Grove City Hospital near Columbus and was headed to Holzer Meigs hospital in Pomeroy, troopers said.

The Federal Aviation Administration was called in to investigate and pinpoint a probable cause of the crash.
