“It’s a rich tradition,” said Mike Adlesh, Cabela’s store manager. “Hundreds of thousands of Ohioans go out every year at this time.”
For those who plan on hunting this season, there are a few new state rules to be aware of.
If a hunter is bringing in antlers, they have to have a clean skull plate.
Hunters who go out of state should note that they are not allowed to bring a complete carcass back into Ohio.
The statewide deer bag limit is six — with only one antlered deer — but bag limits vary in each county, so check for that information on your county’s website.
Also, if hunters plan on using a gun, they are required to wear orange.
Deer hunting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes past sunrise.
Ohio deer-gun season lasts through Dec. 2.
