F-16 jets to fly over Franklin’s Memorial Day event

Councilman who was previously deployed made request to Pentagon.

Although he’d just been elected and took office right before being deployed for three months in Guam, Franklin City Councilman Brent Centers was appreciative of how understanding the community can be.

Centers, a member of the Ohio Air National Guard assigned to the 180th Fighter Wing based in Toledo where he is a crew chief, made a request to the Pentagon to have a pair of F-16 fighters do a fly-over as a part of Franklin’s Memorial Day parade.

“My request was approved by the Pentagon about a month ago, approved by the Cincinnati FAA (office) about a week ago, and approved by my unit yesterday,” Centers told the Journal-News today. “It has been a long process but I wanted to show the city of Franklin that I really appreciated all of the support from the citizens, the city staff, and my colleagues on council during my deployment. I couldn’t have asked to live in and represent a better city.”

Centers said the fighters will flyover Main Street in Franklin from south to north about 10:50 a.m. He said there is no charge to the city as the F-16’s were also doing a flyover in the Dayton and “and they will just plug Franklin into the flight plan.

Centers will be the speaker for the Memorial Day program in downtown Franklin.
