Gatlinburg wildfires: Kettering woman worried about rental

A Kettering woman is worried whether her retirement home in Gatlinburg has burned in the wildfires.

For 30 years, Pat Schairbaum has kept the property in the family, honoring her husband’s last request.

She told News Center 7’s Natalie Jovonovich that she has called everyplace she knows in the resort area to find out about her home — to no avail.

Schairbaum said she has heard from renters of her property. She has seen photos of the area and recognizes landmarks near her home.

“And I keep having that flickering dream that the house may still be there but doesn’t seem likely,” she said Wednesday night.
