No federal grant for Franklin’s Harding Museum

The Warren County Board of Commissioners directed Grants Administrator Susanne Mason to award $55,000 more from Community Development Block Grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for a road project in South Lebanon. The money was tentatively allotted for paint and roof repair for the Harding Museum by the Franklin Historical Society. It now is to go toward reconstruction of High Street in South Lebanon, for a total grant of more than $260,000.

Commissioners Dave Young and Tom Grossmann decided to shift the funds to projects with a “broader reach.”

The commissioners also rejected a request from Morrow for $76,650 to reconstruct Blackhawk Road.

The city of Franklin is still expected to receive $150,000 for curb and gutter replacement on Beam and Moore drives.

The grants are also to fund $50,000 for the reconstruction of Ken Boulevard and Loraine Avenue in Harveysburg and $58,000 for upgrades to the village hall in Pleasant Plain.

The board also supported grants to the Abuse & Rape Crisis Center of Warren County receive for $42,750 for assistance to domestic violence victims and the Interfaith Hospitality Network for assistance to the homeless.
