One person taken to a hospital from a reported shooting in Dayton

UPDATE @ 8:17 p.m.: A 45-year-old man was taken to a hospital from the 700 block of Kenilworth Avenue in connection to a report of a shooting Monday night a block away on Delaware Avenue.

A caller to 9-1-1 reported hearing “a pop” and then a person scream at or near an apartment building on Delaware at Linda Vista Avenue avenues, according to a sergeant with Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

“There were people there yelling ‘help! help!’ the caller said. “A woman was saying ‘help, help call the police.’ I don’t know what was going on, but it didn’t sound good.”

The caller did not witness a shooting, the dispatch sergeant said.

The condition of the person taken to Miami Valley Hospital was not known about 7:45 p.m.

INITIAL REPORT

Police are investigating a report of a shooting in the 600 block of Delaware Avenue in Dayton.

Police and a medic unit were dispatched just after 7 p.m. on the report.

At least one shell casing has been located by police, according to an unconfirmed report.

We’re hearing the shooting may have occurred outside the address in the 600 block of Delaware.
