Cause of Dayton house fire under investigation, district chief says

UPDATE @ 10:59 p.m.: The cause of the house fire at 20 Bluecrest Ave. in Dayton is under investigation, District Chief Peter Whitby said.

There is evidence of ongoing construction, but nothing has been confirmed, he said. There also is no reason to think the fire was suspicious in nature.

He said other questions about the incident, including whether anyone lives at the address, are under investigation also.

INITIAL REPORT

Crews are on the scene of a house fire on Bluecrest Avenue in Dayton.

Crews were dispatched just after 10 p.m. on the report of a structure fire, with heavy flames showing on the second floor of a two-story wood frame dwelling.
