Supports to Encourage Low-Income Families is looking for another name to add to its list of community members who have provided significant support to low-income residents.
The honor, the 2012 Janet Clemmons Community Service Award, is in memory of the founder of SELF and a former Butler County commissioner. It will be presented at the agency’s award dinner March 24.
Clemmons understood the challenges faced by disadvantaged families and those who serve them, said Jeffrey Diver, executive director of SELF.
He called Clemmons “an amazing lady who always went above and beyond.” The award honors those who remind the agency of Clemmons’ “grace, courage and compassion,” he said.
Nominations should include: Nominee’s full name, address, phone, email, organizational affiliation and title; a list of any and all committees, organizations or boards the nominee is supporting and how they are supporting them; highlights of how the nominee goes above and beyond in helping low-income individuals and families in Butler County.
A nomination form and instructions are available at www.selfhelps.org and at all SELF offices. Nominations should not exceed three pages and are due no later than Feb. 3. Completed nominations should be sent to Sharon Bengel, community relations director, SELF, P.O. Box 1322, Hamilton, Ohio 45012 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
All nominees will be honored at the March 24 event and the winner will be selected by a committee of community members including members of SELF’s Board of Trustees. For more information, contact Bengel at (513) 820-5009 or email@example.com.
