He was identified as the one who had slammed the gate several times and attempted to push a member of the bar staff.
Staff did not want to press charges but only to have the two men removed. He said he was staying “down by the bowling alley” and was permitted to leave as he said he could walk. A short while later, however, the officer was informed by several people he was wandering around and appeared to be lost. The officer located him and indicated he seemed unsteady on his feet and smelled strongly of alcohol.
The man said he was going to walk home to Hamilton but the officer said that would not be safe. He seemed unable to make rational judgments and finally said he could stay at a local friend’s house, so the officer offered to drive him.
He was found to be in possession of an E-cigarette which he was told to not use in the police cruiser, but he did so and the officer detected the strong odor of marijuana. He began laughing loudly and saying gibberish and making illogical statements, according to the police report. The device was taken from him but when they arrived at the friend’s house the officer was advised the man was not welcome there.
He was then taken to the police station and an E-cigarette cartridge was found on the floorboard of the police vehicle. It smelled of marijuana and contained a thick, yellow oil. The officer again permitted him to try to secure a ride home which he was not able to do.
He was then charged with disorderly conduct/persisting and possession of a controlled substance, both fourth-degree misdemeanors, and taken to the Butler County Jail.
