Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from a two-story, detached garage on Vine Street, near the intersection of Trenton-Franklin Road and state Route 122, just across the Great Miami River from Middletown.

No one was injured in the fire and according to a social media posting from the Madison Fire Department the blaze was reported at 8:06 p.m. Friday.

“Units initially had a difficult time getting a knock down on the fire due to limited access, live power lines down around the structure, as well as two fire hydrants that were not operational,” reported Madison fire officials.

“Units were on scene approximately 3.5 hours extinguishing the fire and cleaning up,” said officials, who thanked fire departments from Trenton, Wayne Twp., Franklin Twp. and Middletown fire department for assisting in fighting the blaze.

Madison Twp. fire officials were unavailable to give status of the fire investigation on Saturday, nor a cost estimate of damage.
