LeSaint Logistics downsizing

Workforce One of Butler County, the county’s government run job center, told the Journal on Wednesday that LeSaint Logistics is downsizing.

LeSaint Logistics is a third-party logistics and warehouse services provider with operations in West Chester Twp. and Trenton, and one of Trenton’s largest employers. LeSaint is downsizing and laying off about 45 people this month, said Stewart Leonard, manager of the county Workforce One job center.

Officials with LeSaint Logistics’ corporate office in Romeoville, Ill., and local operations have not returned phone calls placed for weeks from the newspaper seeking information about layoffs.

Leonard said the job center sent rapid response teams to LeSaint on Monday and Tuesday this week in Trenton.

The government agency typically holds “rapid response” sessions at downsizing employers.

In these sessions, Leonard said he goes to the companies, along with Ohio unemployment staff to explain how dislocated workers can make a claim. Credit counseling experts from LifeSpan go to offer free credit counseling services. Also, Workforce One staff explain career programs, grants available and workshops offered at the job center. Job center staff also introduce the website www.OhioMeansJobs.com, a free online job search engine database.

The layoffs are not enough to require the company to file a notice under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act to the Ohio Office of Workforce Development.
