Judge Robert Peeler of the Warren County Commons Pleas Court has been honored by Transitions, Inc. with a Heroes Against Heroin Humanitarian Award as Outstanding Elected Official of the Year in his work to find ways to support people who use or have used heroin, and their affected family members.

Peeler received his award at the recently held Transitions, Inc. Annual Gala. The Heroes Against Heroin Humanitarian Awards recognize individuals throughout the greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky community who, through their exceptional efforts, have succeeded in creating a path for heroin users to find success and seek ways to overcome their addiction.

Peeler has served for the Warren County Common Pleas Court for seven years. Among the accomplishments for which he was honored include his creation of a successful Drug Court transition program that allows non-violent felony drug offenders to participate in an 18-month rehabilitation program.

This program allows those convicted to remain living and working in the community while they receive services and support to overcome their addiction, and stay drug free. The program saves taxpayers dollars, and helps people who are addicted to heroin select a path to overcome their addiction and lead a drug free life.

“I am honored to receive the recognition from Transitions, however, it is important to remember that we provide the supervision and opportunity while the participants do the work. We are working with individuals who are reclaiming their lives,” Peeler said.
