Homicide charges filed in West Chester motorcycle crash

West Chester Twp. police have charged a 23-year-old Cincinnati man with vehicular homicide in a July motorcycle crash.

Logan R. Rayl turned himself in at 5 p.m. Dec. 4 at the police station on the charge of vehicular homicide, according to Area III court records.

He is charged in the death of 53-year-old Peter McCreary of Mason on July 13. McCreary was riding a motorcycle on West Chester Road when he crashed into Rayl’s 2003 Ford Taurus and became wedged under it at Ridgemont Drive.

The Butler County coroner determined his death was accidental caused by multiple blunt force trauma. Township spokeswoman Barb Wilson said the police investigation found differently.

“The investigation determined a failure to yield and therefore the charges were filed,” she said.

Rayl was released on his own recognizance after his arrest and is facing a second-degree misdemeanor charge. His next court date is Tuesday.
