Butler County’s drive-in movie theater will be part of an anticipated national Metallica show that will be broadcast to such theaters this week.

The mega metal band will perform in Northern California, with images of the show appearing at indoor theaters and drive-ins alike on Saturday, with material from throughout their career. Tickets are on sale.

Three Days Grace will be the opening band for this show, which will be shot especially for this event. Tickets will go on sale Aug. 14, for what band publicity promises “will go down as one of the most unique and memorable Metallica experiences of all time.”

Amy Dermen of Hamilton plans to attend with husband Bill Dermen and kids, including 8-year-old Jack Dermen, who says: “Finally something interesting to do! My favorite song is Puppet Master and I hope they play it.”

Bill Dermen, 45, has been a fan of the band since high school and has influenced the rest of the family to be fans, said Amy, who noted they saw a Cincinnati concert one frigid night in 2019. “Now we get to ‘see’ them during the Pandemic,” she added. “Gives us something to look forward to during these crazy, boring times.”

According to the drive-in’s Facebook site, tickets are $115, a price set by Encore Live Concerts, which pays admission for a carload of up to six people. It also includes four digital downloads of their latest album, S&M2, an album and concert film that features the band and the San Francisco Symphony that will be released Friday.
