Former Irish pub transformed into a new restaurant — and here's when you can get a sneak peek

An area restaurant chain’s third location will give a sneak peek this week before it opens Monday at 5650 Tylersville Road in Mason.

Basil’s On Market’s open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday will feature free refreshments, plus a cash bar.

The restaurant, which previously was Brazenhead Irish Pub, underwent months of renovations with new features added to its interior and fresh touches made to its facade.

Basil’s also features new patio space with an ample amount of seating, plus three garage doors that open up the bar and the restaurant for summer dining that is nearly al fresco.

The restaurant also boasts an upper and a lower level that can be used simultaneously with the main floor as a special event space for private parties and gatherings.

Basil's on Market's downtown Dayton restaurant, which overlooks the Great Miami River at 312 N. Patterson Blvd., opened in July 2016. Basil's on Market opened its first restaurant in 2014 at 18 N. Market St. on the Troy downtown square.

Basil’s owners previously told this news outlet it has plans to add as many as five restaurants by the end of 2019, including one in the Springboro/Centerville corridor and possibly more in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky market by 2021.

The restaurant specializes in “modern twists on classic American fare.”

Entrees for dinner at the restaurant will feature everything from Boneless Short Ribs, Pesto Chicken and Buttermilk Fried Chicken to Sauteed Sea Bass, Barrel-Aged Salmon and Lobster Shells and Cheese with Grilled Shrimp.

A lunch menu features Pulled Pork BLT, Bruschetta Pasta, a Chiptole Chicken Wrap and more.

The J.F. is a prime burger or chicken breast topped with Basil’s chili lime slaw, chévre (goat) cheese and bacon and finished with Basil’s Asian dressing served on a buttered croissant bun.

Also available will be 43 wines, both red and white, as well as a selection of 10 scotch whiskeys and 10 bourbon whiskeys.
