Middletown firefighters at the scene of a fire say the blaze may have been started by homeless people living in the garage.

Firefighters were dispatched about 12:20 p.m. today to a reported garage fire at a residence in the 1400 block of Fairmount Avenue in Middletown.

A detached garage at a vacant house was reported on fire.

Mutual aid was requested from Franklin and Monroe, but later cancelled.

There was a lot of smoke and damage to carpet inside the garage, according to firefighters on the scene.
