Oxford bar employees pin student they say tried to steal bottle of vodka

Brick Street bar employees flagged down an officer at 4:01 p.m. April 28 as other employees were holding a man down on the ground in the patio area of the bar.

The employees told police the man had gone around the back of the bar and taken a bottle of vodka.

They said he was then told to leave and began fighting them.

Bar personnel told police that surveillance video showed the man walk behind the bar, take a bottle of vodka and then pour it into his own glass as well as those of other patrons.

While the man was being escorted out of the bar, he attempted to take a swing at one of the employees resulting in his being held down on the ground when police arrived, according to the police report.

The man was identified as Jackson Williams, 22, and a Miami University student. He was charged with theft and disorderly conduct.

The vodka bottle was taken into evidence.
