Man who robbed Middletown bank in KFC uniform identified

The suspect in a Middletown bank robbery is the same man charged in a recent Cincinnati robbery, according to police.

Alfonso Goodwin, 48, is charged with the April 2 robbery of a US Bank in Colerain Twp., police there announced yesterday.

Middletown Police Maj. Scott Reeve said Goodwin is also the suspect in the March 27 robbery of a US Bank at the corner of Breiel and Roosevelt boulevards.

Goodwin was gambling after the two heists when men attempted to rob him of his cash, Reeve said.

“He was shooting dice and they saw his wad of cash and was shot several times,” Reeve told the Journal-News.

Goodwin is now hospitalized.

Detectives plan to take charges from Middletown against Goodwin directly to a Butler County grand jury for consideration, according to Reeve.

FIRST REPORT: Man robs Middletown bank wearing KFC uniform

At about 1:28 p.m. March 27, a man walked into the US Bank at the corner of Breiel and Roosevelt boulevards and passed a threatening note to a teller, according to police

The man left going north away from the bank.

The perpetrator was caught on security camera and described as a black man with facial hair wearing a black ball cap with “Kentucky Fried Chicken” written on it and a black polo shirt with “I rule the rooster” written on it.

Reeve said there is no indication that Goodwin ever worked at KFC, police said.
