Workforce One of Butler County, the county’s only government-run job placement agency, has three upcoming job fairs open to the public.

They include hiring events for the new Warren County racino under construction, Rumpke Recycling in Cincinnati and a retail job fair meant to help employees recently laid off from Marsh Supermarkets in Hamilton and Fairfield.

Marsh closed two local MainStreet Market grocery stores in August.

The grocery store “displaced workers would have great qualifications for the Racino and Rumpke hiring events coming up. We expect between 700 to 900 individual job seekers through our doors in the next two weeks for these two events,” said Stewart Leonard, Workforce One manager, in an email.

All hiring events listed below will be held at Workforce One, 4631 Dixie Hwy./Ohio 4, in Fairfield. For more information, call the job center at 513-785-6500.

Miami Valley Gaming is conducting on-site interviews from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday to fill positions for food and beverage, experienced slot attendants and technicians, and experienced cash cashiers and count team members for the new area racino to open. To speed up the hiring process, job seekers are asked to apply online beforehand at www.miamivalleygaming.com.

Racino operators are looking for people with prior gaming and/or casino experience, according to Workforce One.

Miami Valley Gaming expects to open a racino — a horse racing track with video lottery terminals — in December this year in Turtlecreek Twp., in Warren County, near the intersection of Ohio 63 and Interstate 75. Estimates are the racino will create more than 500 jobs.

The second upcoming job fair is for Rumpke Recycling on Sept. 6. The job fair is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. that Friday next month at Workforce One. Rumpke is hiring 35 sorters for its new Cincinnati location.

Sorter laborers work as quality control line workers by hand sorting recyclable materials and trash from the recycling stream. They are responsible for making sure unacceptable materials are removed from recycling. The job pays $11.35 an hour. After a 90-day introductory period, employees are eligible for health, life insurance and retirement benefits.

Apply to Rumpke online beforehand at https://rumpkejobs.com/jobs.asp.

Also from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, Workforce One is conducting a job fair for retail workers. While meant to help people laid off from the MainStreet Markets closing in Hamilton and Fairfield, a division of Marsh, the job fair is open to the general public.

Now is the “prime time” for retail hiring as the holiday season approaches, said Whitney Read, business services liaison for Workforce One. Home Depot, Lowe’s, Big Lots, Sanmar, Target and Speedway have so far confirmed to attend the retail job fair, Read said.
