Carlisle Village Council member resigning

A first-term member of Carlisle Village Council announced Tuesday that he would be resigning his post.

Councilman Jake Fryman said his resignation would be effective Sept. 15 because he is moving out of the village.

Fryman, 25, had taken out petitions for a second four-year term but did not file them by Wednesday’s 4 p.m. deadline with the Warren County Board of Elections.

Voters gave Fryman a full four-year term in November 2013. He was appointed in May 2013 to complete the term of former councilman Scott Boschert.

Village Manager Julie Duffy said the village charter gives council 60 days to replace a council member who vacates their office.

She said council plans to post the position and take applications from prospective candidates to complete Fryman’s term which expires on Dec. 31. Duffy said council may begin interviewing on Sept. 12, just before Fryman’s resignation takes effect.
