Thomas Alig could have been among the families searching for answers in the Dayton Convention Center on Aug. 4.

The St. Albert The Great teacher got a frantic call the night of the Oregon District mass shooting and rushed to pick up his son, nieces and nephew.

He found out later that morning how close he came to a parent’s worst nightmare.
