El Meson’s 40th birthday celebration continues with Day of the Dead feast

El Meson is keeping the party going in celebrating four decades in business. The next installment is Day of the Dead themed.

Continuing the celebration of its 40th anniversary this year, El Meson will host the Day of the Dead on Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 with a special four-course tequila and mezcal pairing dinner taking place on Nov. 2.

“A unique tradition, the Day of the Dead is done in remembrance of those who have passed,” Bill Castro, owner of El Meson said. “However, it’s not a somber reflection, but a colorful celebration of their lives and memories. It’s a really wonderful tradition that we wanted to share with our guests.”

Pairing tradition with food and drink, on Oct. 31 through Nov. 2, El Meson will be offering a special selection of premium mezcal and tequila paired with a bite-sized tapas.

The celebration culminates with a four-course tequila and mezcal pairing dinner on Nov. 2 with guests Joe Head of The Century Bar and Tiffany Clark of The Mural Machine, who will be offering complementary, authentic, Day of the Dead face painting. The Day of the Dead four-course tequila and mezcal pairing dinner costs $40 and takes place at El Meson on Friday, Nov. 2 at 6:30 p.m.

“Culture is just as much about our traditions as it is about the food we share together,” Castro said. “We hope you will come and join us around the table as we all participate in this celebration.”

The Four for Fortieth Events are all priced at $40 (not including tax and tip) and include Day of the Dead tequila and mezcal pairing events on Oct. 31 - Nov. 2, Wine and Stein highlights from their travels to Austria, Germany and Switzerland on Nov. 29, and finishes with the annual Chocolate & Champagne Pairing on Dec.18. The first event in the series was the Brazilian Asado Grill on Sept. 11.
