Thousands of contemporary Christian music fans will soon be heading to Kings Island for the 23rd annual SpiritSong.
Kings Island spokesman Don Helbig said the event will showcase major acts from across the country at King’s Island’s 10,000-seat, outdoor Timberwolf Amphitheatre. Artists performing range from pop and rock to hip-hop.
“It features national headlining artists, who are some of the most popular names in contemporary Christian music. The concert includes guest speakers, as well,” he said.
For many, it’s become a tradition, year after year. A number of guests plan for it well in advance, and as soon as the concert dates are announced, they put it on their calendars.
“A lot of our guests come from out of town, as far away as from West Virginia. Other guests visit from Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and Michigan, specifically for SpiritSong. It’s a chance to have that day of quality time together with your family and friends,” Helbig said.
Set for Thursday, June 23 through Saturday, June 25, the three-day music festival will feature more than a dozen artists, including Casting Crowns, TobyMac, Kari Jobe, Crowder, For King & Country and Red. Comedian and actor Bone Hampton will also serve as the festival’s emcee. Torn in Two (TNT), the 2016 SpiritSong Talent Competition winners, will be the opening artist on Thursday.
Julie Pierce, on-air afternoon host and promotions director Star 93.3-FM, said, “It is an event our listeners count on, and plan for every year.”
She said the festival often sells out, or comes close to selling out every year.
“It might not be quite as popular as Red’s opening day, but it seems to be pretty close, at least with our audience,” Pierce said.
As part of SpiritSong, guests will enjoy two parks, along with the concerts.
“When you’re coming to the park for SpritSong, you also have access to Kings Island and Soak City Waterpark. And, new this year at Soak City Waterpark, we have Tropical Plunge with six different water slide experiences all in one complex, towering almost seven-stories tall,” Helbig said
