Dayton restaurant giving away free beignets for a year as part of contest

If an apple a day keeps the doctor away,  imagine the awesomeness that can come from eating a few beignets a week.

Lily’s Bistro, 329 E. Fifth St. in Dayton’s Oregon District, is offering a sweet deal: free beignets every week for a year as the prize for a Facebook contest.

It even rolled out a ridiculously royal Facebook video to promote it.

An order of beignets is $5 on Lily’s Brunch menu.

Lily’s and beignets go hand in hand.

“When we started serving brunch, I knew I wanted to include beignets as a menu item,” Lily’s owner  Emily Mendenhall said. “Beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe du Monde was the last meal I ate in New Orleans before getting in my U-Haul and moving back to Ohio to open Lily’s with my family. It’s an iconic food in New Orleans that both tourists and (most) locals love, and it’s just a little nod to NoLa and the time I was lucky to spend living there.”
