If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, imagine the awesomeness that can come from eating a few beignets a week.

Once again, Lily's Bistro, 329 E. Fifth St. in Dayton's Oregon District, is offering a sweet deal: free beignets every week for a year as the prize for a Facebook contest. In addition to the free sweets, the winner will reign as the King or Queen of Beignets.

Lily’s even rolled out a new ridiculously royal Facebook video to promote the contest.

Lily’s and beignets go hand in hand.

“One of the menu items we’re most known for, this has been one of our most popular promotions since we crowned our first monarch some three years ago,” said Emily Mendenhall, Lily’s Bistro owner, in a news release. “After the summer we’ve had, it was really fun to get together and just be weird and silly.”

“It’s been fun seeing how excited everyone gets. After all, who doesn’t love fried pastries covered in powdered sugar?” Mendenhall said.

Lily’s serves beignets and more for brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The new King or Queen of Beignets will be crowned at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the restaurant.
