West Chester business closing could affect over 100 jobs

Bakery Crafts of West Chester Twp. plans to close, a move that could affect the jobs of about 119 people, according to a notice of the pending layoffs received by the state on Feb. 1.

The facility at 9300 Allen Road will be closed, and operations will be wound down beginning April 5 and throughout the rest of the year, according to the letter from the company posted on the website of Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

A variety of positions could be cut including marketing and development, customer service, accounting and more, according to the notice.

DecoPac Inc., of Minnesota, a supplier of cake decorations to professional cake decorators and bakeries, announced June last year it completed an acquisition of Bakery Crafts, which makes cake decorations. At the time the deal was announced, DecoPac had no plans to consolidate facilities or change leadership, according to the release.
