Warren Buffett reveals $549M stake in Kroger

Warren Buffett helped boost Kroger’s stock prices when he bought a large stake in the grocery giant.

His firm, Berkshire Hathaway, bought a $549 million stake in Cincinnati-based Kroger, which is a 2.4% stake in the chain, according to Business Insider.

The investment was shared in recent SEC filings.

Business Insider reported that the news of Buffet's purchase pushed Kroger's stock up about 6% in after-hours trading on Friday.

The grocery chain is both a significant area employer and retailer, with more than 110 stores between the Dayton and Cincinnati areas and about 20,000 associates in the Dayton-Cincinnati division.
