"The Presidency is a far more important task!" Mr. Trump added. He did not say who would be running his businesses while he is in the White House.
The announcement by Mr. Trump comes amid a growing demand from Democrats in the Congress for the President-Elect to make a clean break with his businesses, as some argue it presents a series of ethical challenges.
"President-elect Trump should convert his assets to simple, conflict-free holdings, adopt blind trusts, or take other equivalent measures, in order to ensure compliance with the Emoluments Clause of the U.S. Constitution," said Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD).
It was obvious from the early reaction to Mr. Trump's announcement, that many want to see the fine print of his business changes.
The news conference by Mr. Trump on December 15 would be his first since winning election, and the first since late July.
