Republicans in Congress bask in victory celebration on tax cuts

After failing to act on GOP plans to overhaul the Obama health law, Republicans erased a good deal of legislative frustration this week by approving a sweeping package of tax cuts, following through on one of their major campaign promises from 2016.

"We had a historic victory for the American people," President Donald Trump said on Wednesday to big cheers from GOP lawmakers assembled behind him at the White House.

"It's the largest - I always say, the most massive - but it's the largest tax cut in the history of our country," the President added, as he publicly thanked GOP leaders in the Congress.
