Brian Gunter is out as athletic director and varsity boys basketball coach in the Ross Local School District.

Gunter, who has been at Ross since 2014, submitted his resignation to the Ross Board of Education on Thursday night. He cited personal reasons.

“You will not find a nicer guy in our profession than Brian Gunter,” RHS principal Brian Martin said in a release. “We thank him for his contributions to our athletic program and wish him and his wonderful family all the best.”

Longtime Ross employee and former Ross Middle School athletic director Micky Geier will serve as interim AD for the rest of the 2017-18 school year.

The search for a new boys basketball coach will begin immediately. Interested individuals should email a letter of interest and a resume to Martin at brian.martin@rossrams.com.

Gunter directed the Rams boys basketball program for three seasons, going 8-15 in 2014-15, 4-19 in 2015-16 and 6-17 in 2016-17. He took over as athletic director on July 1, 2015, after Doug Noonan retired.

Before coming to Ross, Gunter was a head coach for seven years at Arcanum, five years at Valley View and four years at Springfield Northwestern.
