The move figures to free up more carries for rookie Nick Chubb, the Browns’ second-round pick this year, and veteran Duke Johnson, a third-round pick in 2015. Through six games, Johnson has 19 carries (5.84 average) and Chubb 16 carries (10.81 average) compared to Hyde’s 114 attempts (3.35 average).
The Jaguars have been without running back Leonard Fournette for most of the season because of a hamstring injury.
