“The Zombie Ball is one of our biggest and most beloved events; we get a frightfully enchanting response every year. Moving our annual spooky soiree to the exclusive Pyramid House this year elevates the evening by providing a stylish and exceptional venue for the Dance of the UnDead. I really look forward to the recently unearthed Zom-Band’s performance which will test the definition of ‘live’ music,” said Sean FitzGibbons, director at Pyramid Hill.
The Pyramid House was owned originally by Harry T. Wilks, founder of Pyramid Hill. The open-concept home has a glass pyramid on top. Inside, there will be a buffet, a variety of tables for sitting and standing, and a bar. In the rear, there is an open courtyard, which will have a tent with live music, a dance floor, and a bar. Large projection screens will also be showing a variety of scary movies.
“We definitely have a lot of interest and enthusiasm from all of the attendees when it comes to interpreting the theme as well as the costumes,” said Gabi Roach, project manager at Pyramid Hill. “People want to incorporate the theme, but also, it is a formal ball, so we have people that dress in typical zombie costumes, but we also have guests that really like to play between the themes of it being more of an upscale event with a suit and tie, or a nice ball gown, but then, incorporating aspects of the ‘undead’ culture like a Zombie Hunter or a Witch Doctor.”
Geared to a younger crowd (ages 18-30,) the fundraiser was originally patterned after the idea of a Zombie Prom. It’s one of the park’s four major fundraising events each year — Blues, Brews and BBQ, Art Fair, Zombie Ball and the Holiday Lights display at Pyramid Hill.
“When we started the event, it was at the height of the cultural obsession with zombies. So, we were looking to connect with youth culture in Hamilton as well as to highlight the park and get people visiting,” said Roach.
She said Zombie Ball is not only a fun event, but it gives guests an opportunity to engage with the park in a different way.
“This is really a unique event for Pyramid Hill. This year, we will have a Haunted Trail Walk as part of the Zombie Ball, so guests will get to see some of the park,” said Roach.
