Hurricane Dorian: Ohio Task Force 1 activated

Ohio Task Force 1 has been activated to respond to Hurricane Dorian efforts in Florida, the group announced Friday.

A Type I team with approximately 85 members will be staging at Miami International Airport.

“This team make-up consists of members prepared to conduct search’s, including K-9 search, provide rescue and medical duties, along with all the logistics needs for the team,” the task force said.

The group is known to respond to natural disasters to assist with search and rescue and other missions.

OHTF1 typically travels to a certain area to be in place near where a Hurricane or other natural disaster strikes while awating orders from FEMA.

OHTF1 most recently assisted in search efforts in Vandalia and Harrison Twp. following the Memorial Day tornadoes.

Currently, the team's headquarters are locate in Kettering on Wilmington Pike.
