H.S. Results for 2/21: CBC, CCC, MAC announce all-conference teams

Caleb South was tabbed as the player of the year and Brett Kopp the coach of the year in the Cross County Conference boys basketball all-conference team announced Tuesday.

South and Kopp guided CCC champion Bethel to a 19-3 record in the regular season and a 12-0 mark in the conference.

Hunter Muir (Ansonia), Logan West (Miami East), Ryan Rose (Bethel), Ethan Bowman (Mississinawa Valley), Trace Couch (Tri-Village), Nathan Blei (Covington), Gavin Richards (Tri-Village), Ethan Conley (Franklin Monroe) and Mike Meyers (Twin Valley South) joined South on the first team.

Central Buckeye Conference

Jamari McDavid of Kenton Ridge and Nikki Current of Ben Logan were picked as players of the year for their respective divisions in the CBC. Mikala Morris (Kenton Ridge), Des Parks (Spg. Shawnee), Corinne Thomas (Tecumseh), Presley Griffitts (Tecumseh), Hunter Rogan (Urbana), Hayley Boysel (Ben Logan), Kari Sollenbarger (Graham), Reagan Ware (Greenon), Morgan Evilsizor (Indian Lake) and Abby Zerkle (Northwestern) also earned first team honors.

Cross County Conference

Allie Downing of Tri-Village earned player of the year honors and Abbey Moore of Franklin Monroe was named the coach of the year in the CCC. Stevie Johnting (Arcanum), Kelsie Hunt (Mississinawa Valley), Mandi Bates (Bradford), Tatum McBride (Newton), Samantha Whiteman (Covington), Aubrey Stupp (Tri-County North), Corina Conley (Franklin Monroe), Haley Howard (Miami East) and Danika Mann (Tri-Village) made up the rest of the first team.

Midwest Athletic Conference

Minster’s Rosie Westerbeck was picked for the MAC player of the year and Mike Wiss earned coach of the year honors. Teammate Courtney Prenger joined Westerbeck on the first team.

Sectional Tournament

Badin 70, St. Bernard 21: Shelby Nusbuam tallied 16 points, Emma Broermann added 13 and Olivia Keene 10 to lead Badin.

Jackson Center 65, Mississinawa Valley 22: Kamryn Elchert recorded 23 points and Cassie Meyer hauled in 12 rebounds for Jackson Center. Kelsie Hunt scored 11 points for Mississinawa Valley.

St. Henry 65, Van Buren 36: Danielle Lange and Nikki Keller had 16 points apiece to lead St. Henry.

Tippecanoe 70, Urbana 31: Brooke Aselage had 14 points and Allison Mader 13 for Tippecanoe. Hunter Rogan paced Urbana with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Troy Christian 39, Botkins 38: Hailey Peters put up 13 points and Kathryn Lee scored on a floater with four seconds to play to give Troy Christian the edge. Paige Lane led Botkins with 18 points.

Drew Agee and Jessica Pitt of Kenton Ridge were named bowlers of the year in the Kenton division. Cody North and Ashlyn Stollings of Northwestern earned the same honors for the Mad River division.
